We're seeking a highly skilled Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our team and play a pivotal role in bringing innovative consumer products to market. You'll work closely with a talented group of industrial designers, hardware engineers, software engineers, and operations managers, acting as the bridge between conception, development, and mass production.
This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of 3 days per week spent in our San Francisco office.
Responsibilities:
- Orchestrate cross-functional teams, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned and moving towards a common goal.
- Develop and manage program timelines, factoring in engineering requirements, tooling, testing, certification, and production schedules.
- Oversee all aspects of engineering builds, from prototypes to mass production, liaising with contract manufacturers and subvendors.
- Manage resources and suppliers, ensuring on-time and successful product builds.
- Partner with Product Design engineers, facilitating communication and vendor scheduling.
- Communicate program progress effectively to engineering and leadership teams through clear presentations, reports, and data visualizations.
Qualifications:
- Proven track record of successfully shipping mass-market hardware products, including expertise in timeline management and the entire product development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with industry-standard project milestones, phases, and gating criteria (Prototype, EVT, DVT, PVT, MP).
- Proficiency in project management tools and concepts, including planning, cost management, delivery, BOMs, Gantt charts, and statistical distributions.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to articulate and document issues clearly, coupled with strong presentation skills.
- Experience working in high-pressure environments with limited information, requiring strong decision-making skills, risk assessment, and personal resilience.
- Adaptable and eager to learn, with a commitment to continuous improvement and fostering strong team relationships.
- Ability to work independently while demonstrating ownership and accountability for tasks and prototypes.
- Experience working in both small and large team settings is a plus.
- Mandarin language skills are a strong bonus (but not mandatory).
