A leading innovator in laser-based wafering technology for the semiconductor industry, our client in Santa Clara is seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Integration Engineering Manager to play a pivotal role in the transition of their cutting-edge designs from Research & Development to Pilot Manufacturing. This newly created position will be instrumental in Manufacturing Engineering, verifying the functionality and performance of the company’s prototype systems. The successful candidate will build and lead a team of integration and test engineers and technicians.
This individual will assume prototype ownership, collaborating with systems, hardware, and software engineering teams to resolve integration challenges. They will ensure component compatibility across electrical, mechanical, and software interfaces, delivering required functional capabilities and performance.
This is a full-time, on-site position located in the SF Bay Area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and lead a team to execute integration and verification plans for prototype systems (wafering stations, networked stations, and complete processing lines).
- Own prototypes: plan, staff, and qualify to support program plans.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (internal departments, contract manufacturers) on system integration plans and communication.
- Resolve hardware and software interface/communication design flaws.
- Assess and mitigate system integration risks.
- Minimize and resolve integration priority conflicts and bottlenecks; drive systemic improvements via root cause analysis.
- Capture and drive resolution of integration issues; report progress.
- Identify and improve integration processes.
- Optimize documentation for assembly build, integration, and testing.
- Continuously improve integration processes.
- Ensure quality of software testing and validation.
- Establish a comprehensive product record with test and calibration data.
- Travel to customer sites for product introduction or support (as required).
- Maintain a safe and 5S-organized work environment compliant with EHS standards (including laser safety, chemical handling, and safe use of equipment).
- Ensure a safe work environment through work review, testing, and containment actions related to lasers, equipment, and chemicals.
