Our client, a growing startup, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will be a key contributor, architecting and designing cutting-edge consumer products from concept to high-volume production. This is a full-time, onsite position in the company's San Francisco office.
Responsibilities
- Lead the entire mechanical design process, from initial ideation and CAD to prototyping, testing, and mass production.
- Architect and develop complex electromechanical systems that integrate a variety of components, including plastics, metals, soft goods, sensors, and actuators.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including industrial design, marketing, product management, and company leadership, to shape the product roadmap and features.
- Partner with electrical, software, reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams to solve complex, interdisciplinary challenges.
- Conduct thorough analysis and testing—including thermal, fluid, and structural assessments—to ensure designs meet rigorous product objectives.
- Travel to manufacturing facilities in Asia to provide hands-on support for production ramp-up.
Qualifications
- Over 8 years of experience designing and developing consumer products.
- A proven track record of bringing high-volume consumer products to market, with direct experience supporting manufacturing in Asia.
- Expertise in various manufacturing processes, including injection molding and sheet metal forming.
- Proficiency with 3D modeling and simulation tools like SolidWorks, NX, or Creo.
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM/DFA), tolerance analysis, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with quality assessment methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis and Design of Experiments (DOEs).
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field. A Master's degree is a plus.
