Our client is a mission-driven medical technology company transforming the diagnosis and management of patients with serious neurological conditions. Their novel, point-of-care platform is designed to meet the needs of acute care settings and is already deployed across hundreds of hospitals and major health systems nationwide.

They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support core research and product development initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong technical fundamentals, an analytical mindset, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach, and will contribute to mechanical design execution, verification, validation, and reliability testing, along with thorough documentation and DFX participation.

This is a 6–9 month contract role with a hybrid schedule, requiring 4–5 days onsite in the client’s South Bay Area office to support hands-on engineering work.

Key Responsibilities

• Design mechanical parts and subassemblies that meet user, functional, and regulatory requirements.
• Partner closely with internal R&D team members to support the design and manufacture of a successful product.
• Research and collaborate with external suppliers to develop custom parts and ensure they meet requirements.
• Participate in risk management activities and partner with the Quality team to develop verification and validation processes.
• Coordinate with external testing laboratories to support product compliance and certification.
• Conduct reliability testing, including drop, ingress, thermal, and cycle testing.
• Produce comprehensive documentation, including engineering drawings, bills of materials, tolerance analyses, and design reviews.
• DFX: support assembly optimization, fixture design, and line bring-up.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Science or Engineering
• Experience with medical device research and/or development
• 5+ years of experience with mechanical design and CAD tools
• 3+ years of experience with manufacturing and assembly process development
