Our client develops a real-time micro- and nano-materials metrology sensor powered by cold atmospheric plasmas. This compact sensor integrates seamlessly into existing manufacturing lines, capturing multiple material property measurements (thickness, density, resistivity, etc.) simultaneously and in real-time. This enables the collection of critical, previously unobtainable data for processes like Lithium-ion battery, semiconductor, membrane, and packaging/barrier coating production. Our client is leveraging this versatile framework to accelerate R&D and process optimization, enhance quality control, and implement real-time process control.
Our client seeks a seasoned Senior Electrical Engineer to spearhead the development and execution of advanced engineering solutions for a high-performance real-time metrology platform incorporating cutting-edge cold atmospheric plasma, optical, thermal, mechanical, and electrical systems. You'll manage complex projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and provide technical expertise to drive innovation and ensure product excellence.
This role offers an exceptional opportunity to be at the forefront of technological advancement, working with cutting-edge systems in a collaborative and dynamic environment. If you're a motivated and skilled engineer eager to make a significant impact in the metrology industry, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Significantly contribute to the electrical design and validation of the cold atmospheric plasma-based metrology sensor.
- Collaborate with a small, cross-functional project team to research, develop, and validate new concepts for low-temperature plasma-based metrology.
- Conduct fundamental studies to characterize and understand the sensor's sensitivity to various environmental factors.
- Work closely with both small and large clients to iterate on the design based on their feedback, prioritizing integration speed.
- Create and maintain technical design documentation (requirements, wiring diagrams, part schematics, test reports).
Qualifications:
- B.S./M.S./PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 5+ years of industry experience.
- Experience leading independent electrical design projects, particularly those integrating into larger systems.
- Strong experience in developing and optimizing embedded controls and subsystems (FPGA design, VHDL, firmware optimization, signal/image processing, real-time data processing, proficiency in C and C++).
- Hands-on development of prototypes.
- Initiating and maintaining supplier support.
- Understanding customer needs and iterating designs accordingly.
- Experience with electrical design for manufacturing environments, particularly roll-to-roll and/or sheet-to-sheet processes (a major plus).
- Experience with FCC, CE, and UL certification (a major plus).
- Familiarity with high-voltage devices.
- Performing sensitivity analysis and utilizing the results to inform future electrical designs (e.g., quantifying prototype sensitivity and mitigating environmental disturbances).
