Are you a highly skilled Product Designer with a passion for bringing innovative products to life? A leading brand in premium kitchen appliances is seeking two talented Contract Product Designers to join their team onsite in the SF Bay Area. This is an exciting 3-month contract opportunity to contribute to the development of a new, high-profile product that will complement their existing line of acclaimed coffee and tea makers.
You'll be working alongside a respected team in product design and development, known for their exceptional track record in delivering cutting-edge consumer products. This is a chance to collaborate with a visionary leader and make a tangible impact.
Responsibilities:
As a Product Designer, you will be instrumental in the design and development of complex mechanical systems and components. Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating detailed 3D models, CAD designs, and engineering drawings.
- Designing for various manufacturing processes, including injection molded plastics, compression molded elastomers, die-cast aluminum, investment cast steel, and sheet metal.
- Developing intricate designs involving positive pressure and high-temperature fluid paths.
- Executing robust mechanism design.
- Performing tolerance analysis to ensure design integrity.
- Conducting structural FEA as needed (expected to be minimal).
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet product specifications, technical requirements, and business goals.
- Performing testing and characterization of your own designs to validate performance against product specifications.
- Soliciting and incorporating Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback from Asian manufacturing partners.
- Ensuring all product designs comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Onshape is preferred, but strong experience with Creo or SolidWorks (SWX) will also be considered.
- Proven experience in product design, particularly with consumer goods.
- A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to design for various manufacturing processes.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, onsite environment.
