The Company, a leader in sustainable design and manufacturing, is seeking a passionate Mechanical Engineer to bridge industrial design vision with global manufacturing execution. You will design and develop key product components for their next-generation digital manufacturing platform, turning innovative concepts into tangible, sustainable products.
This is a full-time, non-hybrid, on-site position in the SF Bay Area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Design & Development: Design and refine components (e.g., lighting products) using SolidWorks, SuperSlicer, and Illustrator, optimizing for digital manufacturing. Develop detailed hardware specifications for various manufacturing processes (injection molding, 3D printing, metal fabrication).
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze issue reports and sales data to prioritize improvements. Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify root causes and implement solutions. Track and analyze issue data using Excel.
- Manufacturing & Documentation: Create clear production SOPs and detailed documentation for manufacturing, optimized for medium-volume production and international sourcing. Develop RFQs for electronic components (PCBA, batteries, cables). Maintain CAD organization and PLM (preferred).
- Project Management: Manage new product inventory projects, define requirements, and coordinate timelines using Excel and SolidWorks. Support new product category exploration.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with overseas manufacturing partners and sourcing managers to ensure quality and refine hardware development. Assist with vendor selection and provide technical expertise for electronic components.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience supporting industrial design companies or deep product design expertise.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, SuperSlicer, and Illustrator.
- Knowledge of various manufacturing processes (injection molding, 3D printing, metal fabrication).
- Experience with electronic component sourcing and vendor management.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with PLM is a plus.
